FPS Foundation Swing for Success Event Info

The Fargo Public Schools Development Foundations is hosting its second annual Swing for Success Golf Tournament fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. April 30 at Suite Shots. Enjoy a four-person nine-hole scramble tournament in private bays or play interactive golf games. Prizes will be awarded in both categories.

Kindergarten Round Up Information

Kindergarten Round-up is a time for incoming kindergarten parents and students to learn about what a typical day in kindergarten looks like. Make sure to get registered so you don’t miss out on this fun experience!

Lincoln gifted and talented students celebrated Pi Week before Spring Break. One activity was making a pi chain with students writing a digit of pi on a paper chain link as a visual representation of how long pi is. The students linked together 2,929 digits of pi in a chain that wrapped all the way around the school. They also competed in a Pi Bee to see who could memorize the most digits of pi with Nolan Sagar and Collin Horne tying with 160. Horne won the tie breaker by getting to 236 while Sagar got to 222.

ECSE Logo

The Early Childhood Special Education program will have a new schedule in the 2026–27 school year. ECSE students will attend classes Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for screenings, evaluations, and Individualized Education Program meetings. Student session times will remain the same:

  • Morning Session: 8–10:30 a.m.
  • Afternoon Session: 12:10–2:40 p.m.

National Foreign Language Week

Each year students and staff across the nation celebrate National Foreign Language Week. This celebration offers students additional opportunities and learning experiences that complement their classroom learning. A theme is chosen each year along with an accompanying poster that is selected based on the theme and nationwide submissions. This year’s theme was Learning Languages: A Prescription for Healing Misunderstandings.

Multilingual Leaner Program Review with FPS logo

Do you want to help improve FPS Multilingual Learner Program? All ML parents, students, and community members are invited to the Annual ML Program Review, Tuesday, April 14, 4:30-5:30 at the District Office in PD Room 87. This event is a chance to look at what the program has done well, talk about successes, and find ways to make things even better.

Human Performance gives students a supportive, hands-on environment to build strength, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits. The course blends age-appropriate weight training, cardio conditioning, mobility work, and practical lessons in nutrition and injury prevention. Students learn proper technique, improve overall fitness, and understand how to take care of their bodies in ways that support long-term wellness.

FPS invites parents and caregivers to share their thoughts in the Climate and Culture survey . District staff use the results to review current practices and to plan for the upcoming school year. Your input helps shape decisions that support students, families, and staff. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and caregivers are invited to complete a survey for each school their child attends this year.

Special Education Parent Advisory Committee with FPS logo

Families play an important role in shaping the success of our schools, especially when it comes to supporting students served on Individualized Education Programs. One of the ways FPS brings families and school staff together is through the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee. Director of Student Support Services Shelby DiFonzo recently spoke with SEPAC Chairperson Katy Barnum to learn more about the committee.

Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, FPS students will have new opportunities during their middle school experience. These include World Language in sixth grade, a new Project-Based Learning course in seventh grade, and a High School Readiness course for all eighth grade students. These changes are designed to give students more opportunities to explore their interests, develop important skills, and prepare for high school and future career paths.

Fargo Shines Image

The Fargo Shines! Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival is coming up on Saturday, May 2 at Davies High School. The festival gives middle school students an opportunity to perform in a competition setting with judges to help them feel more comfortable and prepared for high school music contests. Students who would like to participate can sign up with their sectional teacher.

Robin Nelson Board Column

The Board Governmental Affairs Committee has remained actively engaged throughout the 2026 interim legislative session. Committee members Nikkie Gullickson, Katie Christensen Mineer, Jason Nelson, Kristin Nelson, and Robin Nelson have collaborated with the administrative team to develop a comprehensive work plan in preparation for the 2027 North Dakota Legislative Assembly.
